Joy: The science behind feeling good

Joy: The science behind feeling good

For a long time, we have thought of wellbeing as the absence of discomfort.
But what if feeling good is not simply something that happens to us?
What if joy is something we can practice?

At NEH, we believe our inner state shapes the way we experience the world. And while we cannot control every circumstance around us, we can become more intentional about the states we invite into our lives.

Joy can be one of them.

Your brain remembers how you feel

Joy is an experience that happens throughout the body. Moments of pleasure, connection, laughter and presence create associations in the brain that can become linked to memories and emotions. And this is where scent becomes powerful.

Our sense of smell has a direct relationship with the areas of the brain involved in emotion and memory. A scent can you back to a place or a feeling before we have consciously understood what has happened.

You smell something. Feel something. Then the mind catches up. Everything we experience carries information and it can influence our internal state. At NEH, this is part of what we mean by frequency.

You can choose what you want to return to

What if small, intentional rituals can help us to enter diffrent states?  This is why we created the Altered States Collection. Each NEH fragrance carries an intention, a state of being you can consciously return to.

Not to escape reality. But to experience it differently.

Our fragrances becomes an anchor.
The affirmations gives the state a voice.
The sounds creates aa frequency.
The rituals creates repetition.

Together, they turn fragrance into a moment of presence.

Choose how you want to feel

We don't believe fragrance should simply make you smell good. We believe it can become a tool for becoming more aware of how you feel and how you want to feel.

Choose a scent with intention. Take a breath before you spray. Let the fragrance unfold. Repeat the affirmation. Listen to the frequency music. Give yourself a moment to arrive. Joy is a feeling you can choose to make space for.
